Read Lori's op ed in The New York Times![[space]](images/space.gif)
Lori’s spending time with the thriller giants. She sponsored a conference, “Who Owns Your Body?” with Michael Crichton and did a joint signing with the charismatic author of JURASSIC PARK and NEXT. Then she and Jeffrey Deaver did a presentation on “Murder Most Foul” at the Printers Row Book Fair (see photo). And Lori’s new book, THE SILENT ASSASSIN, is getting rave reviews. Publishers Weekly called THE SILENT ASSASSIN "outstanding." And the Chicago Tribune said, "Blending elements of forensic-powered mystery, psychological suspense and a Ludlumesque espionage thriller, Andrews' newest is a page-turner with enough jaw-dropping plot twists to satisfy the most demanding mystery reader. It's highly recommended." Research on the book took Lori to Vietnam and to the White House. She met with the Commander in Chief but, alas, did not have sex with a musician in the White House cloakroom as did her character Alex in SEQUENCE. Maybe next time.
THE SILENT ASSASSIN
"Patricia Cornwell and Kathy Reichs, watch out!" —Library Journal
THE SILENT ASSASSIN is a tour-de-force thriller combining the intricate details of forensic science with the dark side of Washington politics and one of the freshest and most original characters in crime fiction today.
When a John Doe with a bayonet wound in his chest is discovered in a Washington, D.C., alley, geneticist Dr. Alexandra Blake of the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology is pulled away from her bioterrorism work to aid in the investigation. Just a little digging reveals a corpse that's not at all that of the homeless robbery victim it was set up to resemble—and Alex and her colleagues find themselves wrapped up in a complicated mystery of high-stakes international financial intrigue... Read an excerpt!
"Outstanding... Alex becomes the target of a determined murderer, whose connections reach to the highest levels of government. The tight plot moves toward its explosive conclusion when a peaceful White House ceremony to return the skulls to Vietnam erupts into intense violence."
—Publishers Weekly starred review
“Internationally renowned genetics expert, distinguished professor at Chicago-Kent College of Law and director of the Institute for Science, Law and Technology at the Illinois Institute of Technology, Lori Andrews—who was born in Chicago and grew up in Downers Grove—can add another title to her already impressive résumé: best-selling mystery author.”
—Chicago Tribune

"Moving from the White House to a remote village in Vietnam, Andrews’ second series book is an outstanding thriller. Geneticist Alexandra Blake has as many sharp angles as soft edges. She’s a scientist with a heart—and a scalpel brain. Andrews’ tale deftly tackles international intrigue, violence and the murky world of political ambition."

The first Alexandra Blake thriller
"SEQUENCE is a marvelous, whip-smart thriller with a twist—a double helix sort of twist, that is. In Alexandra Blake, a brilliant and resolute D.C. geneticist with a taste for old cars and major commitment issues, Andrews has given us a protagonist who already feels like an old friend. Here’s hoping she’s with us for a long, long time."
—Dylan Schaffer, author of the Misdemeanor Man mysteries
