If you'd like to learn about my writing buddies, you can check out the Mystery Chix and Private Dix.  We've had so much fun together on mystery panels we created a website.  We even have T-shirts!

FIELD TESTED BOOKS
[space]

Do you ever read a book in a place where the plot and your surroundings fuse in your memory?  When novelists were asked that question, they created a webpage of Field Tested Books.  My contribution describes how I was reading Janet Malcolm’s The Journalist and the Murderer while having tea with an actual murderer (the subject of my nonfiction book, Black Power, White Blood: The Life and Times of Johnny Spain).  Jodie Foster, move over.

DOCUMENTARY

FROZEN ANGELS is a Sundance Film Festival nominated documentary which follows a cast of characters through the wonder-world of assisted human reproduction while, at the same time, portraying Los Angeles, a city better known for elevating the superficial into an art, for Hollywood, Disneyland, freeways, silicone implants, film sets of epic proportions, and perfect bodies at Muscle Beach. But in the Mecca of the Body Perfect, one in six couples is now infertile and Angelinos lead the world in number of fertility clinics per capita.

Check your local PBS listings for an airdate in your area.

Frozen Angels
Home and educational video copies of FROZEN ANGELS are available from Umbrella Films.

Film makers Frauke Sandig and Eric Black requested Lori Andrews' assistance in maneuvering through the "Wild West of medicine." You can view a short movie shot outside of a California diner in which Lori addresses the legal and ethical implications of the new reproductive technologies.
